As most SEO agencies already know, there are plenty of ways to achieve a first page ranking for your site, regardless of whatever your site’s content focuses on. However, the easier approach, generally, would still be on-page SEO, or the optimization of different parts of your website.
If you’re new to SEO and search engine marketing, on-page SEO or on-site SEO is the practice of optimizing your web pages so that it ranks higher in search engines. The main reason why people consider it as the easier approach is primarily that when you’re doing on-page SEO, you’re working on things that are found on your own website. Unlike off-page SEO which includes backlinking and other strategies that involve other people or sites, you have more direct control and influence over on-page SEO.
When you’re doing on-page SEO, the focus is usually more on these individual elements:
Headings usually get more attention from search engines because they usually appear larger than other parts of the page. You can optimize the heading by inserting target keywords in there. Also, it is generally more helpful to have one heading per page instead of having multiple.
Optimizing the URL structure is done by shortening it and placing the keyword in the structure. It also wouldn’t hurt to keep the labels of your folders and your directories more sensible to users.
Another on-page strategy is sharing your content on social media. Getting shares in social media helps Google view your site as more relevant and therefore deserving of higher rank.
Restructure your page in such a way that it loads very quickly on mobile devices. Lately, Google is also using mobile page loading speeding as a ranking metric.
Search engines, especially Google, have always put a premium on a site’s content. You can use this as one of the most effective methods to increase your online presence.
First, choose to post more content that affects people’s finances, health, and happiness. Google has recently put more attention to these types of content – YMYL (Your Money Your Life) subjects. This means that if you populate your site with content relevant to these, then Google might spot you sooner.
However, you also need to make sure that your content is reliable, accurate, and authentic. Because even though YMYL content is more visible to search engines, they are also held by Google to a higher standard of accuracy, relevance, and usefulness.
In other words, Google requires that these sites have higher E-A-T, (expertise, authority, truthfulness) in order not to negatively impact people’s finances, health, safety, and happiness.
Second, create high-quality, authentic content regularly to rank up because the frequency of updates is also seen by Google as a measure of a site’s relevance. It’s another effective digital marketing strategy. Just remember to pay close attention to the other page elements as mentioned before.
